Dux Water Based Size comes to tack in 25 minutes and stays open for gilding for 36 hours. This gilding size should not be diluted as it is meant to be used full strength. The Water Based Size will cure to a hard surface. The gildied should be sealed if contact with the surface is expected.
 
Dux Water-Based Size is a water-based, gilding adhesive/size designed for all interior leaf work where extended tack time is required. This water based size is ready for leafing just 25 minutes after applying to desired surface. Once dry, it will remain tacky for 24 to 36 hours. This water-based size has a mild odor and is non-flammable, making it a better choice comparing with the oil-based size may cause problems.
 
How to use Water Based Size: Surface preparation is crucial to obtaining a good-looking and longlasting leafing project. Surfaces must be smooth and free of any dust, oils, wax and fingerprints. If applying size over a previously finished object, the surfaces must be cleaned and lightly sanded, and a small area should be tested to ensure compatibility. Porous surfaces should be filled with a sealer/primer that is compatible with the substrate. Clean up with water. The Water Based Size will freeze. Store in a heated area and avoid shipping during winter months.

Application: Apply with sponge brush for large flat surfaces or our gilding wax brush for detailed surfaces.
